Frustrated with dome, raised spots such as viral warts and other nuisance skin lesions? Warts appear in various forms on different sites of the body and should not be ignored when considering treatment options. If you are struggling with a viral wart and would like it removed, spot ablative laser could be the solution for you.
Platinum Dermatology uses spot ablative laser to peel back layers of skin (like an onion) and burn and destroy the wart tissue and other deeper skin flaws.
Viral warts can be treated in the same way as age spots (wisdom warts). They may need repeat treatments, however require less than with conventional paring with a blade and cryotherapy (freezing).
An in-office procedure, local or general anaesthetic may be used, depending on the number of warts to be removed or the size of the area to be treated.
When the warts are large or widespread, spot ablative laser may help when other treatments don’t work.
Platinum Dermatology explains spot ablative laser treatment
Typically the treatment is quite short and the sensation feels like a hot, elastic band snapping against your skin. Depending on the size/number of warts, you may need topical anaesthetic cream. If so, this will be discussed with you prior to treatment.
Once treated, the vaporised skin is wiped off with a gauze and the individual spot heals like a superficial graze. Spots on the face typically heal within 3-5 days and on the body they will heal within 7-10 days. The lower leg takes a little longer.*
Our specialist dermatologist will discuss the specifics of your treatment with you, including the number of treatments and intervals between treatments.
Tips before treatment
– Avoid sun before and after for treatment on the face.
– No fake tan for 1 week prior to treatment and remove any residual fake tan from area to be treated.
– Avoid topical Vitamin A and serums 1 week prior to treatment.
– Make-up cannot be worn on the individual spot until the skin barrier has healed.
