If you look in the mirror and see loose, sagging and wrinkled skin, it’s probably making you look older than you actually are. The good news? There’s plenty of ways to turn back the clock!
The skincare specialists at Platinum Dermatology offer a wide range of quick, ‘no-fuss’ treatments that can have you looking good and feeling great in next to no time. Check out our non-surgical treatment options below.
What are my options?
1. Non-surgical skin tightening
These treatments are a great option because they involve minimal discomfort and downtime so you can get back to your daily routine as quick as possible. These systems usually use radiofrequency, ultrasound or infrared energy to target deeper levels of the dermis to stimulate new collagen formation and remodelling. This improves skin texture and reduces sagging skin, as well as contouring the jawline and softening wrinkles around the mouth, eyes and forehead.
Platinum Dermatology offers treatment with Ultraformer III, which uses ultrasound technology to stimulate collagen and create an immediate tightening effect. Consultations are complimentary for the Ultraformer so please feel free to call and book a consult with our specialist nurses or medical assistants.
2. Broadband IPL
Considered the gold standard for facial rejuvenation, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a popular type of BBL treatment that can be used to restore a fresh, vibrant appearance. It is designed to treat common skin conditions associated with ageing and sun damage and can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
There is generally little downtime apart from some redness and swelling (which will last for a few hours to a day and can be covered with make-up). For pigmented skin, brown patches will darken and take a week or so to clear (you can apply makeup to cover this). The results are a smoother, more vibrant and youthful appearance.
3. Chemical peels
Chemical peels are higher strength solutions that use different grades of acid to strip the skin of dead skin cells and produce collagen and elastin in the skin. These chemicals peels vary in their depth of penetration causing them to directly target specific concerns. Typically, the stronger the strength of the peel the deeper the penetration and the more severe the post-treatment side effects.
The treatments typically cause very mild stinging during application and various degrees of flaking after treatment, as the new layers of skin start to form. Although there is some downtime, such as dryness redness and peeling, the results are worth it!
4. Anti-wrinkle injections
Perhaps one of the biggest players in cosmetic enhancement, anti-wrinkle injections can reduce frown lines and wrinkles, rejuvenating the appearance of the face. They work by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles, softening existing facial lines and helping to prevent new ones from forming.
As a muscle relaxant, it is commonly used to treat crow’s feet around the eyes, the frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and the worry lines across the forehead. Marionette or ‘sad’ lines from the corner of the mouth to the chin can also be minimised with botulinum toxin. It can also be used to produce the effect of a brow lift by relaxing the muscles that drag down the brow.
5. Dermal fillers
If your face is looking deflated, dermal fillers could be an option for you. Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected into the skin to smooth and fill deep folds and lines. They are also used to restore volume to a sagging face where tissue has drooped with age, re-plumping contours in the upper, lower and mid-face regions.
Fillers can also be used to fill in acne scars, contour or reshape facial features, add volume to lips and cheeks and combined with anti-wrinkle injections. More permanent fillers can even be used to reshape the nose and jawline to create a more balanced and harmonious facial shape.
